How It Works

1

Enrolment

When you collect a new prescription for a qualifying long-term condition, your pharmacist will ask if you'd like to take part in the New Medicine Service. It's entirely voluntary and takes only a moment to agree.

2

First Follow-Up (7–14 days)

Your pharmacist contacts you by phone or you visit the pharmacy to discuss how you're getting on. Common questions include: have you had any side effects? Have you missed any doses? Do you understand how and when to take it?

3

Second Follow-Up (14–21 days)

A final structured consultation to confirm you're tolerating the medication, taking it correctly, and have no outstanding questions or concerns.

4

GP Liaison if Needed

If we identify any clinical concerns — persistent side effects, adherence problems, or possible drug interactions — we communicate directly with your GP to ensure you receive the best ongoing care.

What We Treat
